Studies on the toxicity of phthalates via ingestion.

چکیده
Some recent publications have revealed the presence of phthalates in rather unexpected locations (1-4). Mayer (3) reported that di-n-butyl phthalate and di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate had measurable effects on the Daphnia, an accepted subject for studying the aquatic food chain in the environment. The ubiquity of phthalates has been well documented. Their presence in stored blood samples and in some randomly sampled humans is reason for concern, even though

A concern on phthalate pollution of herbal extracts/medicines and detection methods
Esters of phthalates, mainly applied as plasticizer, cause several human health and environment hazards. Phthalates are widely used in pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, as well as other plastic commercial products, and can penetrate in foods, water dusts, and air leading to ingestion and inhalation exposure followed by skin absorption for human. These compounds cause serious adverse effect...

The dialkyl- or alkyl/aryl esters of 1, 2-benzenedicarboxylic acid, which are known as Phthalates, are high-production volume synthetic chemicals and considered as environmental pollutants, due to high production and uses in community, plastics industry and common consuming products. Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is the most abundant phthalate in the environment. Human exposure with DEHP c...
متن کاملConcentration and health risk assessment of phthalate esters in indoor dust- A case study on pre-elementary and elementary schools of city of Tehran, Iran
Background & Objective: Individuals spend a lot of time indoors; thus they are generally exposed to phthalates used in consumer products. Therefore, those exposed to phthalates as indoor contaminants are at high risks. Therefore, the present study was performed to evaluate the carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic hazard of phthalate esters (PAEs) in the indoor dust collected from 9 pre-elementary ...
متن کاملThe Effects of Phthalates on the Ovary
Phthalates are commonly used as plasticizers in the manufacturing of flexible polyvinyl chloride products. Large production volumes of phthalates and their widespread use in common consumer, medical, building, and personal care products lead to ubiquitous human exposure via oral ingestion, inhalation, and dermal contact. Recently, several phthalates have been classified as reproductive toxicant...
متن کاملConsumer Product Chemicals in Indoor Dust: A Quantitative Meta-analysis of U.S. Studies
Indoor dust is a reservoir for commercial consumer product chemicals, including many compounds with known or suspected health effects. However, most dust exposure studies measure few chemicals in small samples. We systematically searched the U.S. indoor dust literature on phthalates, replacement flame retardants (RFRs), perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), synthetic fragrances, and environmental ...
